The First Steps in Music (1992 - 1995)
Rubén Gallardo was born in 1992 in Felanitx, Mallorca, into a family deeply connected to music. From a very young age, he was surrounded by sounds and melodies that sparked his passion. At just four years old, he began teaching himself, exploring instruments like drums and piano. It was then that his father—a musician and singer—became a key figure, passing on his love for music and guiding Rubén through his first steps.

Exploring New Areas of Art (1996 - 2011)
With a deep passion for the arts, Rubén began exploring various disciplines—from acting to composition.
By the age of six, he was already performing on stage in theatrical and musical productions across the Balearic Islands, standing out for his talent and charisma. His curiosity led him to dive into multiple forms of expression. The stage fused with music, and a constant urge drove him to play, experiment, and listen.
During these formative years, Rubén enrolled at the Felanitx Conservatory, where he studied drums and percussion.
His dedication didn’t go unnoticed: teachers saw in him a commitment beyond the norm, a passion that translated into rhythm, precision, and energy. But the conservatory wasn’t his only school. At home, guided by his father, Rubén discovered other instruments—guitar, piano, and bandurria. He learned by intuition, driven by expressive need, by a creative impulse that urged him to make music before fully understanding how.
At age eleven, he composed his first original piece, revealing both his talent and curiosity for sound creation.
During this period, he joined several musical groups across different styles, enriching his artistic development.
His dedication to music and growing interest in composition eventually led him to write his first symphonic works.
His Early Steps and Training in Production (2012–2015)
During these years, he immersed himself fully in the world of music, surrounded by professionals and artists with whom he began forging relationships and gaining valuable experiences that would shape his path.It was a period of constant learning, one in which he also started venturing into the realm of film. Before diving into cinema, however, he explored the field of music production—honing his skills and deepening his technical knowledge. His dedication and effort were recognized with an honorary degree upon completing his studies in sound and music production.
First Achievements and Beginnings in Cinema (2016 - 2020)
After completing his training in music production, Rubén Gallardo began to shape a solid artistic identity—one where technique merged with emotion, and creation arose from lived experiences. His journey as a session musician, producer, and studio collaborator led him to share sound across stages in the Balearic Islands and throughout mainland Spain. Each encounter, each tour, each sonic space added layers to his sensitivity, expanding the way he listened and told stories.
For several years, he was an active member of various musical groups, including the folk ensemble Tierra y Mar. There, his connection to his Extremaduran roots was transformed into song, rhythm, and living memory. That closeness to tradition and collectivity revealed to him the power of live performance—as encounter, as ritual, as truth.
In 2016, he took a decisive step into the cinematic realm. His first commission was a piano piece for the film Zerø, but the emotional depth of his composition captivated the director, who invited him to craft the entire score. That soundtrack not only marked his debut in audiovisual language, it also earned him his first international accolade: "Best Original Score" at the Films InFest International Festival.
The project opened new doors. Rubén began exploring visual narrative through music, developing a distinctive style that fused classical and contemporary sonorities. His work was supported by organizations such as the Balearic Association of Soundtrack Enthusiasts (ABABS), which awarded him regional recognition in 2018 for his contribution to the genre.

Rubén’s dedication and ability to innovate allowed him to broaden his influence within the industry. Gradually, he continued growing and refining his craft, steadily leaning into a more defined style—one that would later bear his unique signature. In 2019, his work on Retorno earned him a second award at the Films InFest International Festival.
As his career began to solidify in both film and music, Rubén also explored new directions in music production. This led to the co-production of the album Por Amor al Arte, which earned him another accolade at the Premis Enderrock Balears. Yet, his work in audiovisual projects and national recognition arrived soon after. Toward the end of 2020—amid the global pandemic and following the premiere of several original compositions—Rubén composed his second studio album, Alma, a solo piano project warmly received by critics. Despite the year’s challenges, his achievements kept growing. That same winter, he created the original score for El Viaje de Nuestras Vidas, a composition that reached the finals of the acclaimed Gil Soundtrack Awards.

Musical Evolution and Transformation (2021 - 2022)
Rubén continued to strengthen his career as a composer and producer, distinguished by his versatility and an innate ability to adapt to different genres and sonic languages. His meticulous approach and relentless pursuit of excellence led him to take part in increasingly ambitious audiovisual projects—where the fusion of technical skill and sensitivity became his trademark. It was during this process that he began to shape his own musical style: recognizable, emotional, and carefully structured.
Throughout this period, the stage remained silent, but music continued to thrive in intimate spaces—between the piano and composition. Live performances did not take place, but they were felt: like a heartbeat in waiting. Among the most significant scores of this phase was La Leyenda de Oriol, a soundtrack that marked a turning point in his career. Through a dramatic narrative and a musically rich structure full of nuance, Rubén succeeded in conveying the story's deepest essence through sound—consolidating his voice as a composer capable of stirring emotion without words.
The soundtrack was presented in collaboration with ABABS, featuring a live performance and a detailed showcase of the creative process behind the work—allowing Rubén to share not only the music but the emotion that sustains it. It was more than a presentation; it marked his first reunion with an audience after years away from the stage.
This moment became a turning point, where music once again resonated before others, with closeness, honesty, and depth. The project reinforced his standing as a composer and enabled him to connect with professionals in the field who admired his narrative approach and artistic sensitivity. For this work, he received his second regional award from the same organization.
On this period, Rubén established his studio in Mallorca, where he continued to evolve artistically—exploring new techniques in composition and production.

International Expansion (2023 - 2024)
With a career in full ascent and an increasingly defined style, Rubén’s constant experimentation with new technologies and sonic resources elevated the quality of his productions—allowing him to offer an innovative approach in each piece. It was during this time that his music crossed Spanish borders, reaching international productions. His talent and sensitivity as a composer, along with his deep involvement in each project, led him to collaborate with filmmakers and studios in the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand—broadening his artistic vision and embracing new cinematic storytelling methods.
This period marked a key evolution in his trajectory. His ability to fuse symphonic orchestrations with contemporary soundscapes caught the industry's attention. Rubén’s versatility and meticulous approach to crafting sonic atmospheres became essential to the acceptance of his music in high-profile projects, establishing him as a rising figure in the world of film scoring and audiovisual composition of his era

With a more defined artistic voice, Rubén has captivated his audience with scores that not only accompany images—they breathe life into them. His meticulous approach and ability to explore uncharted genres result in compositions that surprise and move both followers and industry professionals. Each new work reflects his dedication and passion for music, leaving a lasting sense of anticipation and admiration among listeners.
During this stage, Rubén also became involved in stage and musical productions as music director and composer for various companies and hybrid shows. Although he did not return to the spotlight as a performer, this close engagement with the stage process awakened a renewed longing for live performance—a quiet calling that began to echo strongly.
One of the most notable milestones came with his recognition at the New York City International Films InFest Festival, which honored his work on Mirror Stacy not only for its artistic excellence but for his commitment and evolution as a composer. This award marked the beginning of his consolidation within the global music scene, opening new doors in international markets and reinforcing his projection as an interdisciplinary creator.

Within the world of cinema, Rubén’s increasingly defined style has captured the attention of international producers and directors who trust his ability to narrate through sound with precision and emotion. This reconnection takes shape through El Somni d’en Walt, a stage production in which he not only crafts the musical arrangements but also steps into the spotlight as a soloist. This project marks a before and after: an emotional key that brings him back to live performance with strength, sensitivity, and a renewed artistic perspective.
