The conversation, conducted by Eduardo Con and published on October 31, offers an insightful look into the creative process behind the score, providing a closer understanding of the musical and sonic decisions that helped shape the world of AMY.

Throughout the interview, Rubén discusses how he approached the creation of Alan and Amy's musical identities, two characters with very different sonic concepts, as well as the influences that shaped the development of the composition. Among them are the electronic aesthetics of the 1980s and the sonic universe of Stranger Things, which served as a reference point for exploring new possibilities within his musical language.

The conversation also delves into the fusion of electronics and symphonic orchestration, the prominent role of synthesizers, the use of sub-bass frequencies to build an increasingly unsettling atmosphere, and the importance of silence and sound design as essential elements of cinematic storytelling.

Beyond the technical and musical aspects, the interview offers a glimpse into some of the composer's thoughts and reflections throughout the creative process, as well as the challenges involved in finding the right balance between music and image to accompany the story's progression.

Rubén would like to express his sincere gratitude to AsturScore and Eduardo Con for their interest, attention and warm approach throughout the interview. It was a truly enjoyable conversation and a wonderful opportunity to share experiences and explore the details of such a special project as AMY.
