In an in‑depth interview for Revista Plural, Rubén Gallardo reflects on his career, his vision of music, and the new direction his work is taking after a decade dedicated to film scoring. The Mallorcan musician and composer explains that, after years working in the film industry, he decided to join different live projects following a Disney music concert with the Marratxí Municipal Band.

During the conversation, Gallardo explores the differences between studio work, backstage dynamics, and direct contact with the audience, highlighting the unique energy that emerges when people experience live music. He also shares some of his upcoming projects, including the release of two new CDs: one featuring the soundtrack of a recent work, and another compiling pieces from across his career, including previously unreleased material.
The composer confirms that he is currently involved in several audiovisual projects, including short films in Madrid and Sydney, while continuing to develop his career across different fields.
Gallardo also shares his creative philosophy: he draws inspiration from real, human stories and believes that any musical work—whether a song or a film score—must be created “with soul and dedication” in order to truly move the listener. He also celebrates the resurgence of live music in the Balearic Islands and the growing institutional support for culture.
