Throughout this January, we visited the studio where Rubén resumed his work after the holiday break and festivities. The atmosphere we found was one of full creative energy: not only on a technical level, but also across a wide range of instruments, collaborators, and processes that have been shaping the new projects set to arrive this year. Far from a slow start to the year-end, the studio is already operating at full capacity, with simultaneous projects ranging from film work to preparations for various live performances.
Between meetings, composition, and planning, we discovered a few surprises that have been quietly taking shape, leaving us more excited than ever to see Rubén and his team working tirelessly every day. All of this reflects the consolidation, in just a few weeks, of a working structure that will set the pace for this first quarter, characterized by meticulous preparation and attention to detail.
With that energy in the background, we spoke with him to learn firsthand all the details.

Q: January is usually a transitional month. How has the start of the year been for you professionally?
A: This first month of the year has flown by. After returning from my vacation, I faced my schedule with all the new projects coming this year. The range is quite broad—a set of very different projects, spanning film, studio work, and live performances. During the first weeks, the priority has been to lay the foundations for the year, holding meetings about the direction and roadmap for each project, both nationally and internationally. While these meetings were taking place, in the studio I composed two soundtracks this month: one already completed and the other currently in post-production for its final delivery. The key has been to approach each project individually, dedicating the necessary time to each every day.
Q: Have any important strategic decisions been made for the coming months?
A: Yes. Together with my team, we are working on projects both internally and externally for other productions, either recently arrived or in pre-production during the last quarter of last year. Additionally, one of this year’s new initiatives is revisiting soundtracks composed in previous years for release. One of them will be released in February.
Q: So that means we’ll have a new album to listen to. Can you tell us anything about it?
A: Yes! I don’t know the exact release date yet, but it’s already in progress, so it’s just a matter of weeks. As for the album, I prefer to keep that a mystery and leave people guessing which one it will be… (laughs).
Q: You’ve continued with your schedule in film. What can you tell us about that?
A: Two days before Christmas Eve, I was with Raúl, my sound engineer, finishing the post-production of the soundtrack for Reminiscencia, ending the year with great satisfaction about that work. Once January began, I worked on two productions, one from the U.S. and another from Spain. Both projects, very different in theme, have been a fresh start, exploring new synthesized sounds while also carrying a very special feeling.

Q: With these two new projects completed… what’s new?
A: This very week, I’m excited to receive a new film project, shot last autumn. The moment I received the script, it inspired me to create its musical motif, which has been kept on hold until now. I have to say I’m really looking forward to this project, as it will feature a “heroic motif” that I’ve never had the chance to compose before.
Q: Turning back to live performances, we’ve heard a little bird telling us that you’re involved in various shows…
A: (Laughs) I have to say that we’re working “petit comité” on different shows, one of which is very special, although for now I can’t reveal much—just that it’s going to be spectacular. Beyond these projects, we already have several concert dates confirmed just around the corner. We’re currently rehearsing both tours in detail, which will see the light of day soon… (laughs).
Q: You’re leaving us wanting more, although we understand some things need to wait. Still, what goals have you set for February?
A: My main goal is to enjoy each day—with every project, every rehearsal, every meeting… it’s all part of the process, a learning experience to be lived. If we get a bit more technical, we’ll have a new release, a new soundtrack, and we’ll continue rehearsing alongside the production of the various live shows that are already underway.
Q: Rubén, we wish you all the best and look forward to announcing more details about each project. Thank you for your time.
A: Thank you for your time as well. We’ll continue building this beautiful journey, full of excitement and dreams coming true.
