Today marks the release of the original soundtrack for AMY, a work that blends contemporary electronic music, intricate sound design, and a deeply cinematic visual aesthetic, crafted in collaboration with a symphony orchestra. With this release, Mallorcan composer Rubén Gallardo continues to develop a distinctive musical language in which music and image intertwine to create scenes, emotions, and nocturnal landscapes.

A piece conceived as a scene

AMY was not conceived as a simple track, but rather as a sequence. Gallardo approaches the work as a fragment of a larger story: a space suspended between red and blue lights, grainy textures, and an atmosphere reminiscent of Mediterranean noir. The composition revolves around a restrained electronic pulse, layers of evolving synthesizers, and a sound design that seeks to suggest rather than describe.

“My intention was to create a specific emotional environment, almost a physical one. AMY is a scene that breathes, that becomes illuminated and fades into darkness,” explains the composer.

Sound Design and Production

The production process behind AMY developed within a hybrid environment combining digital synthesis and analogue processing. Rubén, whose work specialises in sound narrative and composition for film, worked with granular textures, deep reverberations, and minimal percussive elements that reinforce the sensation of internal movement.

The Original Soundtrack for the audiovisual project took six months of dedicated work, encompassing not only composition, but also recording, editing, and mixing, building a sonic architecture designed to accompany every moment of the image.

However, for this musical release—conceived as an independent work—Rubén, together with his team, dedicated an additional six months to developing the piece as a standalone musical experience.

““I wanted AMY to breathe on its own. Not only as part of the film, but as an autonomous piece capable of conveying the same emotional pressure, darkness, and fragility that we built into the original story. In a way, this release is my way of telling that evolution from within,” says the composer.

The album captures this emotional evolution, allowing AMY to exist both within the narrative of the film and as part of the composer’s own artistic identity.

A Coherent Visual Universe

The release of AMY is accompanied by a nocturnal visual aesthetic that defines the character of the project. Neon lights, deep shadows, and a colour palette built around reds and blues create an imagery that connects directly with the music. This coherence between sound and image is one of the cornerstones of Gallardo’s work, as he continues to explore the relationship between music, narrative, and atmosphere.

Availability and the Expansion of the AMY Universe

AMY is now available on all major digital platforms, with its release already generating anticipation among followers, listeners, and new visitors to the website. The piece is part of a broader project that includes a dedicated page exploring the creative process, “How the Soundtrack Was Made,” offering an in-depth look at the sound design, references, synthesizers, and musical narrative that brought the project to life.

That page is already live on the website and can be accessed directly via this link, or by visiting the homepage, where it has a prominent place within the AMY universe. It serves as a hub for those who want to delve deeper into the creative process, understand the sonic architecture, and discover the work behind every scene.

In addition, the release will be accompanied by a documentary, currently in the final stages of editing, which explores the creative process, visual aesthetic, and emotional construction of the work in greater depth. The documentary is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, September 24.

With AMY**,** Rubén Gallardo presents a new stage in his creative journey, where music, image, and narrative intertwine to build a universe of its own. This release is only the beginning: new pieces, exclusive content, and the documentary exploring the creative process will continue to expand the story over the coming weeks.

AMY is now out in the world. And this is only the beginning.
